Hawkshead village is in the heart of the Lake District between Windermere and Coniston and is associated with Beatrix Potter. This lovely little church (St Michael & All Angels) has a commanding position above the village with views over the fells in all directions. Well worth the detour from the shopping streets below (though watch out for the black & white cat that wanders around - it can be a bit grumpy!)
